Goodbye stayed quite low on Saturday as well as mere Rs. 1.35 crores* came in. This is way too meagre for a film of this size and stature and clearly, neither has the film seen much of a hype en route release nor has it gained ample word of mouth going in its favour that would have aided in collections jumping on a daily basis. Yes, there is still a Sunday to come and one can just hope that there is an increase in footfalls. However, with the collections being just Rs. 2.35 crores* so far, from the end results perspective the film is not going anywhere ultimately.

Vikram Vedha has flopped but now it’s about how much it can collect during the days it’s playing. In fact the verdict could well have been announced in the opening weekend itself when after a low opening there wasn’t much of growth on Saturday and Sunday. Still, there was Dussehra holiday coming so one waited for some miracle. When that didn’t happen either, the last hope was that the collections would stay stable in the second weekend due to lack of competition. That advantage has come with Rs. 3.94 crores coming on Saturday, hence leading to a total of Rs. 65.05 crores.

Meanwhile, PS-1 (Hindi) did well on Saturday with box office contribution being Rs. 1.50 crores*. The good part is that it has again gone over the Rs. 1 crore mark, which is fair at least for a film which is playing a few screens and shows. In that aspect the Mani Ratnam directed film is at least showing better occupancy in theatres. However, the overall collections stand at Rs. 16.50 crores*, which could well have been far bigger had the scale been retained as is but the storytelling being far more pan-Indian. One now waits for Sunday to be bigger though.

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited

Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
